I have a confession to make.

I am a Writerholic.

I have been writing weekly email reports to my family ever since I moved abroad. That was almost eight years ago. I wanted them to stay up to date on what is going on in my life, and at the same time, it was a nice way for me to archive my adventures.
Looking through these emails today makes me smile. There are so many little details I would have otherwise forgotten by now. My weekly email reports can fill several books, although I doubt that I will ever publish them.

What does that have to do with this Podcast?

Well, I just can’t help myself.
I want to look back at the making of this podcast with a smile on my face as well. So this will be the first (of hopefully many) weekly updates to come. Here you can follow my little success stories and setbacks of this grand podcasting adventure.

Excited? Well, I am. So here we go.

A bit over a week ago #impact Podcast website launched, and I started contacting potential guests I would like to feature on the show.

The feedback has been amazing, and I am so excited to start interviewing next week. As it turns out inspiring people working for amazing causes are not just the most modest but also the kindest people out there. After all, I am just starting out with not much to show for (at least as a Podcaster), but they are willing to take the time to speak with me, and I am so grateful for their trust and encouragement.

Talking about encouragement: I was amazed how many of my friends approached me with great advice and suggestions on who to get in touch with for the podcast. After seeing my Instagram posts friends connected with me, proposing to get in touch with people that inspire them. And not to forget the lovely letters and calls I received from my family. My grandma in Vienna skyped me the minute she got the notification that the website is live. It made my day.

What else was going on?

I went to the Impact2 World Award event hosted at the co-working space Campfire in Kennedy Town to hear social and green entrepreneurs pitch. I was blown away by their courage. It takes guts to put yourself out there and face a jury questioning your business plan. They had 3 minutes to present their idea followed by 3 minutes Q&A.
HelperChoice , an ethical online platform where employers and domestic helpers can connect online, won the pitch. It was moving to see HelperChoice founder Laurence light up when her social enterprise was named the winner of the night. Look at that smile. Wonderful.

BTW, So in So Good did a fantastic job organising the pitch event (very excited about meeting them next week!) They were thrilled with the high turnout. It’s always a good sign if all the seats at an event are taken and I was lucky to squeeze in at the back where I was in great company chatting with Nicolle from SOW Asia just before the pitch kicked off. SOW Asia is supporting value-driven businesses to scale impact. Would love to have them on the show. Fingers crossed.

Later this week I had a chat with Cherry from Room to Read Hong Kong. Room to Read promotes literacy and gender equality in education and invests in nearly one million children each year. They aim to invest in the lives of at least 15 million children by 2020. Talk about bold goals. What an incredible mission. I am so excited to feature Room to Read and their story on #impact Podcast. Arranging the meeting place for the interview with Cherry as we speak.

Enough for today. I promise you will get to LISTEN to the first Podcast teaser soon. Hopefully just in time for Christmas.

Have a lovely day.

Yours,
Regina
