Usually, I don’t edit much of my recordings. I am always quite comfortable leaving in my blurps, but this one felt different.

To be completely honest with you, when I started editing this episode, it was SOOOO painful to listen back, because all I heard was Angie sounding amazing and me sounding shy and nervous. I even considered editing all of my voice out, because I heard myself ramble and not really getting to the point, and then Angie taking over, shining, and sounding so in control, in charge, powerful, confident – just the way I’d love to sound one day as well.

I won’t even bore you with the details how long it took me to get the intro recording done and how many takes I needed for something that by now-  after recording around 100 episodes for #impact – had become second nature.

I felt like I was a complete beginner again,
an amateur,
totally out of my league.

I tried to figure out why this time it seemed to be so hard to get this episode edited. Then it hit me.

When I first met Angie I felt intimidatedvery intimidated. Not because she made me feel that way – Angie was so kind and generous, genuinely interested in my story. But here I stand with an award-winning journalist that I only know from the screen and I go WHHHHHHHAAAAAA…..i think I actually screamed, and then I said some more.

I was rightly fangirling and freaking out – she is best known for her show “First Up with Angie Lau” on Bloomberg Television that was the most-watched morning business show in the region. Millions tuned in to her show, just like my husband and me when we got ready for work.

I’ll never forget how jealous my husband was when I got to have lunch with Angie Lau a few weeks later. When I sat down with Angie, naturally, my imposter syndrome kicked in: who am I – running my little Podcast? Why would THE Angie Lau even be interested in what I have to say?

But Angie taught me something: My voice matters just as much – and so does YOURS! It does not matter how big or small your platform is, I learned from Angie that we should all do our very best to tell our story in a way that it resonates with our audience – EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.

It’s our responsibility, Angie says.

She is right and I think we will miss out on making the mark we want to make with our organisations/in life/in our relationships if we don’t get that right. That is why I wanted to bring her on the show. So you can learn from her just the way I did.

What you will also hear in this episode – and that is the beauty of all the recordings I did to date (and that, I am really proud of!!) – as our conversation unfolds, we get more real, raw and vulnerable – all emotions allowed – mine as well as Angie’s.

If you listen all the way through you will understand what I mean.

Today, I also want to encourage you to take a few moments to think about YOUR story. After listening to this episode, you might just feel excited to share it with the #impact listeners too. I’d love that.

Yours,
Regina
