Cristina Tahoces, Founder of Thrive Nutrition Practice is all about living a healthy life.  A former banker, Cristina had her fair share of health challenges that forced her to give up her corporate career but she found a new calling when she re-educated as a nutritionist.

Cristina brings a fresh perspective to the food and nutrition debate. In this interview, you will hear which changes you can make to eat with purpose, love yourself and why poop is a bit like sex.

In this episode you will learn:

  • about the importance of self-love.
  • how to get your children to eat the healthy food you want them to eat.
  • what it takes to reinvent yourself after having carefully curated a corporate career and then leaving it all behind.

In preparation for this talk, Regina Larko, founder of #impact Podcast, spoke to one of Cristina’s friends and asked her what she loves most about Cristina. This is what Cristina’s friend said:

“I love her raw and real approach to nutrition. She’s down to earth, easy to share with and incredibly insightful.” She has the knowledge and experience to connect the dots and give you an insight into what the real issues are”.

#impact Podcast host Regina Larko met Cristina when she joined the TEDxTinHauWomen organising committee. Cristina was one of the inspiring speakers at the inaugural TEDxTinHauWomen event in November 2017 and sparked lots of discussion with her thought-provoking talk on “Sleep. Love. Poop. Nutrition’s Role in Mind-body Strength”.

She is all about educating people about nutrition in a practical way.

“I embarked on this journey to help me and my family.”

This started as a personal journey. Cristina did not feel well during and after her pregnancies and she wanted to learn more about nutrition. She started to understand that nutrition could be a tool to reach her own goals and has since sparked lots of debate with her  Sleep, Love and Poop approach to nutrition.

“Poop is a little bit like sex. You want to talk about it but you don’t really know how to talk about it”

The Reinvention of Cristina

In this episode, you hear how Cristina made the decision to reinvent herself and reeducate as a nutritionist after she had spent so many years curating her banking career so very carefully and loved it at the same time.

“Leaving that career was really hard.”

Nobody said it was easy. She went through a period of mourning and wondered what value she was bringing to society besides raising her children.

The Power of Self-love

Cristina is very honest about her own struggles and challenges, as looking through her blog posts attest when she asks how many of us mothers really love our bodies?

“It is a gradual process and it does not happen overnight.”

Cristina shares how self-love is at the centre of making the right food choices and that it takes work, courage and compassion to nourish own body.

“I had to stop hating what I saw in the mirror”

When Cristina talks about her journey nourishing herself she also shares how she nourishes her children. When it comes to her children one of her goals is zero sick days by preparing healthy meals for the whole family to enjoy.

Nobody wants boring food. There are so many ways to make it exciting, says Nutritionist Cristina Tahoces #thrive Click To Tweet

Cristina shares her favourite ingredients that will make you want to get busy preparing your next meal.

“I don’t want boiled broccoli. I would never eat that. Make it delicious!”

Her vision for Thrive Nutrition Practice is to encourage people to stop eating, what she calls, dead food – meaning anything that comes out of a package – but instead, energise and reward themselves with fresh fruit and vegetables.

Fresh fruits, YES, PLEASE!

Fresh fruits, anyone? YES, PLEASE!

Reaching your goals

How long did it take you to reach your goals, is a question a client asked her recently. Listen to this episode and Cristina’s answer to this question will move you. #promise.
