This week we do things a bit differently, because in this episode, Christina Dean, Founder of Redress, answers YOUR questions.

If you missed last weeks live recording, you might want to head over to Episode 16 first, to get a better understanding for Christina’s vision and mission for Redress, an environmental NGO working to reduce waste in the fashion industry.

In this follow-up interview, you will hear Christina Dean’s take on environmental impacts from the fashion industry and the role that consumers play in this conversation.

“Consumer change is really completely at the heart of everything,” Christina says.

We talk about second-hand culture and how the discussion has evolved in the past 10 years since Christina started Redress.

Christina shares what she thinks about supply chain management and how she chooses like-minded suppliers that share her values when it comes to her social impact business BYT, a new, affordable luxury up-cycled fashion brand she co-founded with Michelle Bang. BYT will launch this September and will support Redress’ work.

“We have to be business minded, pragmatic and sensible, understanding of the inherent challenges of the supply chain.”

But there’s more: This recording also gives a very personal insight into what drives Christina, how decisions in her career led her from dentistry to journalism to starting Redress. We also have a little laugh about ex-boyfriends and what one of hers has taught her about taking risks.

You will get to meet young Christina and learn why she is not that different from the woman who runs Redress today.

“Go out and do it. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel.”
