“You are supporting something good and having a good time. It’s a win win win for everybody”

Anne Babilon Teubenbacher

Anne came across the charity gala dinner concept during her time living in Beijing, where she started to participate in the fundraising events by “ChiFan For Charity ” regularly.

After she moved to Vienna she kept receiving the updates from the Beijing-based organisation and felt that it was a pity that she could not be part of their China based events anymore. She thought to herself that she could set out to organise the event herself – here in her new home Vienna.

It all started in Beijing

Anne lived in Beijing for 4,5 years and that’s where she got to know the concept of Chi Fan For Charity. This is the origin of ChariTable Vienna.

Listen in to our conversation as Anne takes us back to Beijing where it all started and how a diverse group of women is working towards growing the event concept.

The international women bringing the idea to life

The founders of ChariTable:
Long-standing friends, Anne Babilon-Teubenbacher (@annebabilon) and Denise Blievert (@deniseblievert)

The ChariTable volunteer team currently counts 12 women from 10 countries (and growing!) that found each other in Vienna. With their diverse backgrounds they all contribute to turning the event into a platform that allows them to learn and grow together while giving back.

Next event on March 24th 2023 in Vienna

Their second ChariTable Vienna event night on Friday, March 24th, 2023 will raise funds dedicated to MAHER’s new shelter home in Kolkata, India. MAHER is an official UN-registered NGO, whose mission is to change the attitude of society, especially of men towards women. Empower destitute women, children, and men with opportunities for growth, education and happiness. In the Indian Marathi language, Maher means “Mother’s Home”: a haven of hope, belonging, and understanding.

What learnings from last year’s event will they bring to their upcoming Charitable event in March 2023, how do the volunteers manage their time to balance their life, work commitments and other responsibilities, what will the participating restaurants and guests get out of the experience, all while making an impact?
